Not just disco, definitely not italo. Synthy bongo afro ecstatic madness? Not really. Certainly some connections with those deeper sounds being made at the moment. Cosmic was a genre largely unknown to those musicians creating its finer moments, while the DJs of the era couldn't be bothered to chisel its Great Books into stone. Slippery thing, time.
